Prof.Dr. Hakan Yanar He was born in 1971 in Denizli.
After completing his primary, secondary and high school education in Denizli, he graduated from Istanbul Faculty of Medicine in 1988. He completed his surgical internship at University of Colorado Health Science Center, Denver Colorado. He completed his compulsory service in Isparta between 1995-1996 and his military service in Tunceli in April 2000. In 1996, he started his residency in General Surgery at Istanbul Medical Faculty, Department of General Surgery and completed his residency in June 2001 with the thesis titled “Scar tissue formation in colon anastomoses and the effect of latirogenic drugs”.
He worked at University of Southern California Medical Center, Department of General Surgery, Los Angeles, USA between February 2006 and February 2007.
His primary surgical interest is focused on laparoscopic treatment of oncologic surgical cases, especially gastrointestinal diseases, stomach, colon and rectal cancer. He has “Robotic Surgery” and “Cytoreductive surgery (CRS) and Hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) in Peritoneal Surface Malignancy” certificates.
He is a member of Turkish Surgical Association, Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Surgery Association, Istanbul Medical Chamber, National Trauma and Emergency Surgery Association and National Endoscopic Laparoscopic Surgery Association. He is an associate editor of the National Journal of Trauma and Emergency Surgery, Chairman of the European Society of Trauma and Emergency Surgery (ESTES) Emergency Section and a delegate of Turkey. Fifty international and 20 national studies have been published in refereed journals. He has two international and ten national book chapters.
He has made numerous oral and poster presentations, panel and symposium speeches in Turkey and abroad. He has written and translated two international and many national book chapters. Prof.Dr., who received the title of associate professor in October 2008 and professor in March 2014. Hakan Yanar speaks English. He is married and has a daughter and a son.
